ZRP Marondera District Public Relations Officer Sergeant Chitake aka Dex beseeched farmers at Mashonaland East Tobacco Sales Floors to make use of well serviced motor vehicles to transport their tobacco to auction floors to avoid being delayed at police check points on the roads.
He impelled farmers to avoid all road traffic offense by hiring trustworthy and licensed drivers as well as to avoid mixing goods with passengers at all times.
Farmers were also spurred to desist from practicing side marketing of tobacco as they risk being duped by fraudsters.
Fraudster of tobacco usually offer high prices to lure farmers but later fail to pay them. From the reports made, some farmers who had opted for side marketing did not receive their payments for the past seasons.
