MUREWA – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Murewa District has reaffirmed its commitment to professional, transparent, and accountable policing following the re-launch of the Client Service Charter held at Gosha Primary School in Juru, Goromonzi District, under Murewa Constituency.

The event was officiated by the Officer Commanding Police Murewa District, Chief Superintendent Chuma, who outlined the police service's renewed commitment to placing citizens at the centre of service delivery. The Guest of Honour, Murewa West Member of Parliament Hon. Farai Jere, commended the police for their dedication to combating crime and enhancing public safety across the district.

Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Superintendent Chuma emphasized that the Client Service Charter is more than just a document, describing it as a covenant between the police and the public that promotes professionalism, swift service delivery, transparency, accountability, and respect for all citizens.

The Charter commits police officers to providing services guided by integrity and justice, ensuring prompt responses to reports, providing reference numbers for cases, and giving members of the public opportunities to follow up and provide feedback on police services.

Chief Superintendent Chuma also highlighted the importance of community participation in crime prevention, urging residents to report suspicious activities, join neighbourhood watch initiatives, and work closely with law enforcement agencies to create safer communities.

The re-launch comes at a significant time for Murewa District, where police have recently recorded notable successes in crime detection and arrest operations. Among the recent breakthroughs was the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to a series of criminal activities that had been terrorising residents in Murewa. Police also recently arrested a former prisoner accused of murdering his 14-year-old daughter, a case that shocked the community.

Addressing attendees, Hon. Farai Jere applauded the police for their relentless efforts in detecting and arresting criminals, noting that effective policing is essential for community development and economic growth. He welcomed the reinvigoration of the Client Service Charter, saying it strengthens public confidence in law enforcement and promotes greater accountability.

The event was attended by community members, local leaders, government officials, police officers, and various stakeholders, reflecting a shared commitment to building safer communities through stronger partnerships between the police and the public.

Crime Focus Zimbabwe welcomes initiatives that strengthen community policing and encourage active citizen participation in crime prevention. Safe communities are built when law enforcement agencies and residents work together under the principle: "If you see something, say something."
