MARONDERA – An 18-year-old woman from Baker Farm, Marondera, has been arrested on allegations of attempted murder following an incident in which she allegedly threw her one-year-old daughter into a nearby dam.
The suspect, identified as Clara Ali, is alleged to have committed the offence after a dispute with her boyfriend over her current pregnancy.
According to preliminary investigations, Ali allegedly threw the infant into the dam before fleeing from the scene.
Fortunately, the incident was witnessed by a local fisherman who acted promptly and rescued the child from the water, potentially saving her life. The infant survived the incident, and the suspect was subsequently arrested.
Police investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the matter.
