MARONDERA – Residents of Wenimbe in Marondera are appealing for information after thieves targeted a community borehole at Warata Farm, near the local church, stealing a borehole pump after digging up the underground pipeline.
The theft has left the borehole inoperable, depriving residents of a vital source of clean water. The damage caused by excavating the pipeline means that restoring the water supply is likely to require costly repairs in addition to replacing the stolen pump.
Community members are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has information about the stolen equipment to report it to the Zimbabwe Republic Police or local community leaders.

Borehole infrastructure has become an increasing target for criminals because pumps, pipes and related equipment can be sold for quick cash. Such thefts do not only affect property owners—they disrupt access to safe drinking water for entire communities, schools, churches and farms.
