The infant was found abandoned behind a kitchen hut at Chaiyezvi Village on 2 July 2026. At the time she was discovered, the baby was wearing a white romper, grey socks, and a black-and-white woollen hat. She was wrapped in a grey baby blanket.
Police are urging anyone with information that may help identify the child's parents, guardian, or circumstances surrounding the abandonment to report to their nearest police station. Any piece of information, no matter how small it may seem, could prove vital to the investigation.
Crime Focus Awareness
Baby abandonment is a serious offence that places the life, health, and safety of a child at great risk. Parents or guardians experiencing financial hardship, emotional distress, or other personal challenges are encouraged to seek assistance from family members, community leaders, social welfare services, healthcare professionals, or law enforcement rather than abandoning a child.
Crime Focus encourages communities to remain vigilant and to report any suspected cases of child neglect, abuse, or abandonment promptly. Protecting children is a shared responsibility, and timely reporting can save lives and help ensure justice is served.
