HARARE, ZIMBABWE — The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for a 30-year-old Harare man wanted in connection with the alleged murder of his younger brother in Sunningdale 2, while warning licensed firearm holders against the negligent and irresponsible handling of guns.
Police are seeking Emmanuel Makazi (30) in connection with the death of his younger brother, Munashe Makazi (22), following an incident at the family residence on 20 July 2026.
According to a statement issued by the ZRP, the incident occurred at around 6:30pm.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Emmanuel allegedly stabbed Munashe once in the chest with a sharp object following a dispute over a missing US$50.
The suspect allegedly fled from the scene after the incident and remains at large.
POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION
The ZRP is appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist in locating and arresting Emmanuel Makazi to report to the nearest police station.

Police have urged members of the public to assist with information that may help bring the suspect to justice.
WARNING TO LICENSED FIREARM HOLDERS
In a separate development, the ZRP has issued a strong warning to licensed firearm holders against the negligent and irresponsible handling of firearms.
Police warned firearm holders against brandishing guns, discharging firearms to intimidate others or using firearms to settle disputes.
The ZRP stressed that the possession of a firearm comes with serious responsibilities. Licensed firearm holders are expected to exercise extreme caution, handle their weapons responsibly and comply with the law at all times.
Firearms should never be exposed or used during arguments, confrontations or disputes, police warned.
The warning highlights the dangers associated with the irresponsible handling of legally owned firearms, particularly during emotionally charged disputes.
DISPUTES SHOULD NOT TURN DEADLY
The Sunningdale murder case has once again highlighted the potentially fatal consequences of allowing disagreements to escalate into violence.
A dispute over money or any other disagreement should never result in physical violence or the use of dangerous weapons.
Members of the public facing a threatening or potentially dangerous conflict are urged to seek assistance from the police or other appropriate authorities rather than taking the law into their own hands.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
