MARONDERA — A tragic incident has been reported in Kadonha Village, Mureverwi Village, under Chief Nenguwo in Marondera, where a man allegedly killed his wife with a hammer before hanging himself following a dispute over a child.
The man is reportedly said to have spent 12 years working in South Africa without returning home to see his wife.
Upon returning home, he allegedly saw his wife with a young child. The child was reportedly his grandson, but the man allegedly believed that his wife had given birth to the child while he was away and accused her of having an affair with another man.
A dispute reportedly followed, with the man allegedly accusing his wife of having a child with another man during his 12-year absence.
The woman is said to have later fled to Mutoko to stay with relatives, reportedly fearing for her safety. However, the man allegedly followed her to Mutoko and brought her back.
According to information available, the man later confronted his wife while she was sweeping. He allegedly picked up a hammer and struck her on the back of the head, resulting in her death.
Following the incident, the man allegedly hanged himself in a bedroom and also died.
