Bedford, United Kingdom — Hundreds of mourners have gathered to pay tribute to a mother and her two daughters whose lives were tragically cut short in a suspected murder case that has left a community in mourning.

The remembrance service, held at Bedford’s Corn Exchange, brought together nearly 500 people, including relatives, friends, teachers and colleagues, to honour Nothabo Zandile Tshuma (42) and her daughters Natalie (15) and Nala (5).

The three were discovered dead at their home in Great Denham, near Bedford, on 6 July 2026. An inquest heard that the mother and her daughters died from head injuries.

The children’s father and Zandile’s husband, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma (45), was arrested in Johannesburg, South Africa, on suspicion of their murder. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

💔 A FAMILY REMEMBERED

During the memorial service, relatives described Zandile as a loving mother who dedicated her life to raising and supporting her children.

Her cousin, Michelle Ncube, told mourners that the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.

"Words cannot begin to describe the depth of our loss. We grieve the loss of the future that has been stolen from them and from us," she said.

She described Zandile as a woman who loved gardening and caring for others, saying she did not only nurture flowers but also nurtured people around her.

A message from Zandile’s sister, who is based in Zimbabwe, was also read during the service, describing the loss as a painful void that words could not explain.

🌹 TRIBUTES TO NATALIE AND NALA

Teachers and friends also paid emotional tributes to the two girls.

Nala’s teacher, Nikki Woodworth, remembered her as a child whose hugs brought joy to those around her.

Natalie, a pupil at Bedford Girls’ School, was described as a kind, thoughtful and talented young person who made a lasting impact on her school community.

The school’s headmistress, Gemma Gibson, said Natalie’s smile reflected the beautiful person she was and highlighted her achievements in sports, where she represented the school more than 100 times.
