DEBUNKING THE MYTHS ON SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH YOUNG PERSONS

SHARE:

Crime Focus actively challenge the idea that "tradition," "culture," or "genuine love" exempts one from this law. The law is the supreme authority in protecting minors.

For generations, dangerous myths have persisted in some communities suggesting that sexual intercourse with a young person—often a child or virgin—can act as a "cleansing" ritual. These beliefs falsely claim that such acts can cure HIV/AIDS, remove evil spirits or curses, or bring good fortune to the perpetrator.

It is critical to state clearly that these beliefs are entirely false, scientifically baseless, and morally indefensible. They are dangerous misconceptions that cause horrific, lifelong trauma to children and fuel the spread of serious diseases.

There is absolutely no medical evidence to support the idea that sexual intercourse with a minor can cure or prevent HIV/AIDS. The Reality is HIV is a virus transmitted through specific bodily fluids. Sexual contact, particularly with a child whose physiological development and immune system are not fully matured offers zero protection against the virus.

Far from being a cure, engaging in these acts significantly increases the risk of transmission. Perpetrators are not "cleansing" themselves; they are actively putting others, including the child, at extreme risk of infection and death.

Beliefs that suggest the violation of a minor can remove evil spirits or bad luck are superstitions rooted in ignorance, not any credible spiritual or ethical framework.

The Reality is that No cultural or religious tradition that values the sanctity of life would ever condone the abuse of a child. True spiritual health is found in respect, compassion, and the protection of the vulnerable, not in the victimization of the innocent.

Using "spiritual" justification for violence is a manipulation of belief systems to excuse criminal behavior. It provides no protection or fortune; instead, it brings profound moral, social, and legal consequences to the perpetrator.

The Myth of "Luck" or "Good Fortune" is false. The idea that a person can improve their life or fortunes by abusing a child is a profound delusion.
The Reality is that  success, health, and fortune are not tied to the victimization of children. These myths often serve as a dangerous justification for individuals to act on predatory impulses under the guise of tradition or necessity.

The Severe Impact of These Myths are extreme and be warned. The persistence of these myths is not just a difference of opinion; it is a public health and human rights crisis.

There is destruction of Childhood. Victims of these crimes often suffer lifelong psychological trauma, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and profound loss of trust in others.

By validating the idea that children are "cleaner" or "safer" partners, these myths directly contribute to the sexual exploitation of minors and the continued spread of HIV.

There is a Legal Consequences in sexual  violation  These acts are classified as rape or severe sexual assault in almost every jurisdiction in the world. They are serious felonies. Perpetrators face long-term imprisonment and social ostracization.

Erosion of Community value and dignity. A community that does not protect its children against such violence fails its most basic moral duty. These myths erode the social fabric by normalizing abuse and victim-blaming.

Sexual myths are  never justifiable. There is no cultural, traditional, or personal situation that makes the sexual abuse of a child acceptable. These "cleansing" myths are lies that destroy lives.

Protecting children is the collective responsibility of every adult. If you hear these myths being perpetuated, it is vital to challenge them directly with the facts: these acts are crimes, they are scientifically useless for healing, and they cause irreparable harm. If you suspect a child is in danger or has been abused, report it to local law enforcement or child protective services immediately.

If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, please reach out to local medical, psychological, or legal support services in your area. You do not have to face this alone.

We encourage the collective responsibility on sexual intercourse with young persons. Surely this is a community effort. When neighbors, teachers, and relatives are educated on the law, they become a protective network for the children in their care.
