 Exploiting the victim's journey to and from school, he established a pattern of interaction that eventually escalated to the victim visiting his homestead under the cover of darkness.

 

The exploitation reached a critical point on the night of *22 March  2026*. Following an invitation to his residence, the offender engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor. However, the veil of secrecy began to unravel through the vigilance of the victim’s family.

Concerned by the minor's absence during the night, her grandmother took immediate action. Acting on information from neighbors who had noted the victim's frequent visits to the man’s house, the grandmother sent a search party. The discovery of the minor at the 28-year-old’s homestead provided the evidence needed to involve the authorities.

The subsequent police report led to a swift arrest and a trial before the Rusape Magistrates' Court. The legal proceedings concluded with a firm message regarding the protection of minors.

 Total Sentence: 36 months in prison.

 Suspended Sentence: 6 months were suspended for a period of five years on the condition of future good behavior.

 Effective Sentence: The offender was ordered to serve an effective 30 months behind bars.
