The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a tragic mining accident at Temstan Mine in Pickstone, Chegutu, which occurred on 06 May 2026.
Three artisanal miners lost their lives after a massive boulder fell on them while they were reportedly prospecting for gold inside a 100-metre-deep vertical shaft. Rescue efforts were conducted, and the bodies of the victims were later retrieved from the shaft.
The deceased were taken to Chegutu District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
