ZRP Mashonaland East to Host Inaugural Commissioner-General of Police Welfare Golf Tournament

MARONDERA – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Mashonaland East Province will host its inaugural Commissioner-General of Police Welfare Golf Tournament at Ruwa Golf Club on 10 July 2026, as part of efforts to raise funds for the Zimbabwe Republic Police Welfare Fund.
The charity tournament is expected to bring together golfers, members of the Police Service, the corporate sector, and the public in support of a welfare initiative that benefits orphans, widows, and widowers of deceased police officers.
Speaking during the official launch held on Monday at the Provincial Police Headquarters (PPHQ) in Marondera, Officer Commanding Police Mashonaland East Province, Commissioner Dr Wiklef Makamache, said the tournament will be played in an 18-hole stroke play format, with registration remaining open until the day of the event.
Commissioner Dr Makamache appealed to the business community, development partners, and other stakeholders to support the tournament through sponsorships, describing their participation as critical to the success of the fundraising initiative.
Sponsorship opportunities range from the Premium Package at US$20,000, Diamond Package at US$15,000, and Gold Package at US$10,000, to Branding Sponsorship at US$7,000. Other categories include Silver Registration Sponsorship (US$5,000), Exhibition Stand (US$3,500), Silver Venue Sponsorship (US$3,500), Silver Tournament Prizes Sponsorship (US$3,000), Bronze Venue Sponsorship (US$2,000), as well as Hole Sponsorship and Four-Ball Sponsorship packages, each pegged at US$200.
The Commissioner-General of Police Welfare Golf Tournament is expected to become an annual fundraising event aimed at mobilising resources to strengthen the welfare support provided to the families of fallen police officers while fostering closer collaboration between the Police Service, the corporate sector, and the communities it serves.
