GWANDA – Four suspects have been arrested in connection with two theft-from-motor-vehicle cases in Gwanda in which cash and mobile phones worth thousands of dollars were stolen from parked vehicles.
The suspects, identified as Lillian Moyo (40), Ronald Chiome (30), Kwanele Ndlovu (44) and Tineyi Chigondo (36), were arrested by police following investigations into incidents that occurred between June 26 and June 30, 2026.
According to police, the suspects allegedly broke into two parked vehicles and stole two mobile phones, including an iPhone 17 Pro Max, together with cash amounting to USD2 100 and ZAR920.
Investigations led detectives to CCTV footage which allegedly captured the suspects, enabling police to positively identify them.
Detectives subsequently tracked the suspects, resulting in a high-speed pursuit that ended with their arrest.
Police recovered the stolen iPhone 17 Pro Max from one of the complainants during the operation.
Also recovered was the suspects' alleged getaway vehicle, three anti-lock devices and T-bars, which investigators believe were used to unlawfully gain entry into the targeted vehicles.
The four suspects are expected to appear in court facing charges related to theft from motor vehicles as police continue with investigations.
