A tragic road traffic accident has once again cast a dark cloud over Zimbabwe’s roads following a fatal crash along the Karoi–Binga Road on Thursday afternoon.
According to information confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the accident occurred at approximately 1400 hours at the 16-kilometre peg along the Karoi–Binga Road. A silver Toyota Hiace kombi (registration number AGG 2763) carrying eleven passengers reportedly overturned after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
Sadly, two female passengers died from injuries sustained in the crash. Nine other passengers were injured and rushed to Karoi District Hospital for medical treatment. Two of the injured passengers, who reportedly sustained serious injuries, were later transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for specialised medical attention.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released pending notification of their next of kin.

- Passengers to speak out against dangerous driving and avoid boarding vehicles that appear overloaded, mechanically unsound, or driven recklessly.
Every fatal crash leaves behind grieving families, traumatised survivors, and communities struggling to cope with avoidable loss.

ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS: FIVE LESSONS FROM THIS CRASH
1. Speed kills
Many rollover accidents occur when drivers approach bends or uneven road surfaces at excessive speed. Reducing speed significantly improves vehicle stability and gives the driver more time to react.
2. Rural roads require extra caution
Roads such as the Karoi–Binga route often present hazards including potholes, gravel shoulders, livestock crossings, and limited emergency response access. Drivers must adjust their driving to the road conditions.
3. Fatigue can be deadly
