Sekai Vumbunu, sister to the Vumbunu brothers linked to the high-profile $4 million Ecobank heist, has appeared before the Bulawayo Regional Magistrate to face multiple counts of armed robbery.
Appearing alongside co-accused Florence Chisiri, Vumbunu is suspected of being a key figure in a sophisticated criminal syndicate operating within the city.
The charges involve the theft of over $36,000 and significant amounts of South African Rand across two separate incidents.
The prosecution alleges that Vumbunu and her accomplices were involved in the
> Nkolozi Investments Bureau de Change: The group allegedly posed as legitimate clients before staging an armed robbery, making off with $18,000 and R151,000.
> Fife Street Restaurant Heist: A second armed robbery occurred at a restaurant located at the corner of Fife Street and 12th Avenue, where a patron was robbed of $4,000 and R60,000.
Widening Investigation
The arrests of Nehemiah Dladla (38) and Simon Dube (28) proved pivotal to the case, as the two men reportedly implicated Vumbunu in the crimes.
Authorities believe these individuals are part of a wider network responsible for a string of violent robberies in the region.
