MARONDERA — Concern is growing among members of the public following allegations raised against an employment agent identified as Beedza, with several complainants claiming they paid agent fees in anticipation of securing employment but are still waiting for jobs or refunds.
The allegations were reported by Marondera Metro, which also observed similar complaints circulating in several WhatsApp groups.
One complainant publicly appealed for a refund, alleging that they had paid a US$15 agent fee after being promised assistance in securing employment.
Another complainant claimed that attempts to recover the money had been unsuccessful, while other contributors expressed concern over the allegations and called for accountability if the claims are proven to be true.
A further contributor alleged that a relative was nearly defrauded after allegedly being promised a job opportunity. The contributor claimed that the alleged employment opportunity did not materialise after further questioning about the applicant's previous work experience.
The allegations have sparked concern among job seekers, many of whom rely on employment agents and intermediaries to access job opportunities.
Members of the public are now calling for greater transparency and accountability in recruitment processes, particularly where job seekers are required to pay agent fees before employment opportunities are secured.
However, the allegations have not been independently verified.
At the time of publication, Beedza had reportedly not responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
Anyone who has been affected or has relevant information is encouraged to report the matter to the appropriate authorities and retain proof of payment, messages, receipts and other relevant evidence.
